Brahma Ghat is a ghat of daily worship on the northern ghats of Kashi, close to Panchganga Ghat, on the banks of Maa Ganga.
A Ghat of Daily Worship
The northern ghats are quieter than the centre of the city. In the early morning the families of the old lanes above come down for their holy dip in Maa Ganga and their prayers. Panchganga Ghat, one of the five tirthas of the Panchatirthi yatra of Kashi, is a short walk to the south.
Coming to Brahma Ghat with Reverence
Best time: early morning, October to March. In the month of Kartik, come together with a holy dip at Panchganga.
How to reach: walk north along the steps from Panchganga Ghat, or come through the lanes of the Pakka Mahal area.
At the ghat: this is a ghat of daily worship. Dress modestly, take your holy dip with care and away from other bathers, keep your voice low in the early hours, and ask before photographing anyone.
And in the morning or the evening, come to Shivala Ghat, where ShivBodh Trust offers the Ganga Aarti every day – our gratitude to Maa Ganga, who has only ever given.
